The
25th Annual "BillyBOB" Century Cup was a tremendous success! Several former tour players including Jolene Watanabe-Giltz and Sarah Riske-McGlamery entered the event as well as outstanding Collegiate players including Tammi Zawacki and Justin Chapman. In all, the level of play at this year’s BillyBOB was nothing short of “incredible” and the energetic crowd was entertained from the first round to the finals. This year’s players party was one of the biggest ever hosted by South Beach. Over 200 people enjoyed dinner provided by our presenting sponsor, The Salty Dog Café. Dancing followed on court 1 to the sounds of one of Savannah's best bands, The Blue-sonics. South Beach would like to thank our sponsors, The Salty Dog Cafe, Coastal States Bank, and Harris Teeter for their generosity during this year’s event. And of course, we want to thank those of you who attended, making this the best BillyBOB ever… Mark your calendar early for the 2011 BillyBOB: April 22,23,& 24 The Winners of each Flight are listed below: Women’s 80’s –Open Rachel Sigmon / Sarah Riske-McGlamery 100’s Open – Janet Watanabe / Jolene Watanabe-Glitz 120’s Open – Sue Kimbal / Janet Watanabe

SBRC Doubles Championship! Played this past weekend, the Doubles Championship matches were sunny, cool, and thrilling to watch! Men's and Women's Doubles Teams competed in four levels. Ladies 3.0 Finals saw a well-played match between upstarts Lisa Groff and Carole Ann O'Connell against former Club Champions Jan England and Marilyn Watson. Jan and Marilyn prevailed. In fact, they're still celebrating! 3.5 Ladies featured former Club Champs Barb Becker and Carol Tucker against Barb Pfeiffer and Betsy Davison. Barb and Betsy jumped to an early lead and never looked back - winning in straight sets! Men's 3.5 was a round robin format. The winning team would have to overcome two strong opponents to win the hardware. Bryce Elkins and Mark Boyle were up to the challenge as they won both matches - the latter being a 3-set nail-biter! 4.0 Men's also played a round robin. Avenging their 2009 Finals defeat, Keith Hutcheson and Don Sigmon won their two matches on their way to the 2010 title! We realize this is a very busy USTA season and thank each of you for participating. By all accounts, we'll be seeing more of you vying for the 2011 title and taking your place on the Pro Shop's "Wall of Fame!"Rally For The Cure! BRRrrr! The threat of snow and very cold weather kept over half our registered players from this event. However, we successfully raised $520: $300 from the attendees and a matching $220 from Don and Rachel for all those who wore Pink, Red, or White!
